The Rangers at Holyrood Park are hosting a series of free walks throughout August where visitors will have the opportunity to explore the stunning setting, local wildlife and historical points of interest of the Park.
On Sunday 3rd and 17th August, and Saturday 6th September, visitors will have the chance to explore different sections of the five-mile boundary wall at Out and About ‘Within these Walls’. Built in the 1540s by James V the boundary wall at Holyrood Park has its own stories to tell, as explored by one of the Rangers.
Every Wednesday until 13th August at Arthur’s Secrets visitors can join a member of the Ranger team to discover the fascinating world of Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat. There will be the chance to uncover the Park’s turbulent past, created by fire and ice, and learn more about the people that lived and worked the land thousands of years ago.
Visitors can join the Rangers for a summer stroll on Wednesday 13th August, with key archaeological and natural points of interest, in various areas of the park, highlighted to those on the Evening Walk.
Nicky Pettigrew, Historic Scotland Ranger, said;
“Holyrood Park is such a diverse and multifaceted landscape that the Rangers always have something different to explore with members of the public. Whether its nature, landscape or historical monuments that are the focus of our walks, there is always something new to discover.”
