The Queen's Hall    The Big Chris Barber Band
20:30 Friday, May 02 2008

Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival

Barber’s current band play early jazz styles with such skill and passion that there’s almost no-one in the world who can match them at the moment.

Chris Barber

Far from easing towards retirement, Barber has possibly the most accomplished band he’s ever had.

He’s surrounded himself and long-time colleagues, Pat Halcox and John Slaughter with a host of great players, who rip up classics from New Orleans, the early Big Band music of Duke Ellington, the blues, and even a Miles Davis tune.

Every concert is a triumphant balance between artistic excellence and terrific entertainment.
