Residents not able to return to their homes

Residents of 6 Lauriston Street have been advised that following the second building collapse last Saturday they will now not be able to return to their homes for the duration of the demolition of the adjacent building.

Up until now they have been able to access their buildings at pre-arranged times in order to collect personal items.

However with work on site about to resume, it is necessary for the entrance to 6 Lauriston Street be sealed – with no further access granted until the building is no longer at risk.

Any residents who have not been in recent contact with the council’s Services for Communities department housing officers to organise collection of items they may need over the next few weeks, or who have housing issues brought about by this extended evacuation should call 0131 529 7408 during office hours and 200 2000 for the out of hours service.

The entrance at 6 Lauriston Street will be sealed at 4.30 pm on Friday 1st June and will be completely inaccessible until the area is no longer deemed to be a risk to public safety.
