Covert spotter patrols as well as mobile CCTV are being used
POLICE and council officers are trying to reduce fly-posting, graffiti and underage drinking in Tollcross.
Councillor Paul Edie, the city's health, social care and housing leader, said police have confiscated 670 litres of alcohol from youths in recent operations. Cllr Edie told a full council meeting last week: "The Police Neighbourhood Action Unit and the local Community Safety Team are working closely to reduce antisocial behaviour through targeted problem solving. "By tackling graffiti across the south sector, and through partnership working and assistance from community reporting, the most prolific offenders are being targeted. "In many areas, including Tollcross and Leven Street, covert spotter patrols and high-visibility patrols as well as the mobile CCTV unit are being used as part of an ongoing initiative to target underage drinking." Residents and businesses have complained about antisocial behaviour caused by the concentration of pubs and clubs. Previous Tollcross Articles
