1754: Golf was formalised at St Andrews with the foundation of the St Andrews Society of Golfers. Twenty-two ‘Noblemen and Gentlemen’ contributed to a silver club to be played for annually over the Links of St Andrews. The first winner was Baillie William Landale, a St Andrews merchant, who became Captain for the year.

    Award-winning photographer's first solo exhibition

Cameo Cinema Home Street Tollcross

AN award-winning photographer is showing stunning pictures of Scottish landscapes at his first solo exhibition.

Ross Armstrong, from Edinburgh, has already impressed judges at the BBC and Digital Photo magazine with his black-and-white images.

The 27-year-old has travelled the country taking evocative pictures of the natural world for his show Relics: After the Storm, which runs from April 8th to May 6th at the Cameo Cinema Bar in Tollcross.

The Cameo Cinema is served by Lothian Buses: 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 23 and 27 to Tollcross
