Police appeal for witnesses following Gorgie assault
A 27-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh on Sunday night (December 16th).
The incident happened at around 8.40pm, on the walkway behind Gorgie Park Close. Police are appealing for witnesses, and are especially keen to speak to a couple seen walking a dog nearby. The victim was attacked by two men, one of whom threatened him with a knife while the other searched his pockets. They escaped with cash and a bottle of Valium pills. The first suspect is described as white, 19 to 20-years-old, average build, and with a local accent. He was wearing a dark shell suit type hooded top, a dark-coloured scarf which covered his face, and dark trousers. The other man is described as white, 19 to 20-years-old, and 5ft 6ins tall. He was wearing a white and blue hooded top with the hood up, and dark tracksuit bottoms. A police spokesman said: "While not injured, the victim was left extremely shaken by the ordeal and we are keen to speak to anyone with information about this incident. "We are particularly interested in speaking to a couple, possibly in their 40s, who were walking a dog nearby and may have seen something that could assist our enquiries." Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111. Source: Lothian and Borders Police
