Learning
    The Art of Imagination
Children from Royal Mile Primary School will be using their imagination at the City Arts Centre tomorrow morning (22nd November) to help launch Seeing Dragons in the Clouds.

Dragon, made from coins, by Helen Denerley

At sometime or another we have all looked to the sky and imagined cloud formations to be mythical creatures or weird objects. The experience captured in the brand new activity-packed exhibition at the City Art Centre.

The exhibition contains artistic visions of the magical in the ordinary and everyday. It highlights the work of artists who have drawn their inspiration from found objects. They create their pieces by finding and assembling and then applying the relevant technology and craft skills to transform what they have found into something else.

Learning and fun are at the core of Seeing Dragons. From a very early age children start to use what is at hand to feed their imagination and visualise their ideas. During visits to the exhibition children and families will have the opportunity to:

  • Make collage masks
  • Experiment with printmaking and rubbings
  • Explore different art mediums
  • Play visual games
  • Design paper bugs and butterflies
  • Explore willow sculptures
  • Learn all about contemporary artists, their studios and their amazing works of art

Seeing Dragons in the Clouds opens on Saturday 24th November
