THE environmental features of a planned £200 million redevelopment of Haymarket are to be highlighted at a conference.

The plans for the former Morrison Street goods yard include a new 16-storey hotel, shops and offices.

The green credentials of the Tiger Developments scheme will be outlined in a workshop at the public sector property and estates conference at Glasgow's SECC on November 28th.

The conference, which focuses on the effective management of the Government's property estate, includes seminars from key players in both the public and private sectors.

Ed Pearce, development manager with the firm, said: "This workshop will demonstrate how we have incorporated sustainability into the design for Haymarket, including secure cycle storage, on-site renewable energy and low carbon design.

"Green principles and environmentally friendly buildings are a key feature of the project."

Nathan Swankie of consultant Environ added: "This project is a showcase for the design and cost benefits that arise from developers working with others."
