1999:
the Scottish Parliament reconvened with Dr Winifred M Ewing MSP as acting Presiding Officer. Her first words to the Parliament were - "The Scottish Parliament which adjourned on the 25th of March in the year 1707 is hereby reconvened."

Free taster sessions across the City...
It’s not the years in your life, it’s the life in your years... The secret to feeling better and living longer is staying active. And it’s never too late to start. During Older Peoples’ Week, from 1st-5th October, we’re offering you the opportunity to try out a range of different activities, absolutely free. From low impact aerobics and gym sessions to bodybalance, dancing and Tai Chi. Or, if you have a competitive streak, why not try carpet bowls, table tennis, golf, or badminton? And if you get a taste for it, our Get Up & Go programme is there to help you go on to set challenging yet achievable goals to achieve a healthy, fun and more active lifestyle. A copy of the new Get Up & Go brochure will be available at all venues. Older Peoples’ Week free taster sessions and health checks are available at the following times and venues: 1st Oct Meadowbank Sports Centre* 10.00 – 16.00 0131 661 5351
*Come along to Meadowbank on the 1st of October, not only will there be a variety of free taster sessions and health checks on offer, there will also be a health fayre with over 30 stalls offering advice and information.
