Pensioner suffering from dementia not seen for 12 hours

Lothian and Borders Police press release

Police are appealing to the public to help trace a missing Edinburgh man.

Kenneth Birss, 74-years-old, was last seen at 7.50pm in North Meggetland, Edinburgh last night (July 26th) when he went for a walk.

Kenneth who lives in North Meggetland suffers from dementia and is described as white, 6ft tall, slim build, with short white hair. He was last seen wearing a royal blue-coloured jacket, white shirt, blue v-neck jumper and grey trousers.

He has very little money in his possession however he does have a bus pass.

Kenneth has been missing once before and was found near Inglis Green Road.

A police spokesman said: "Kenneth's family are extremely concerned for his welfare as he has little knowledge of Edinburgh apart from the Morningside, Bruntsfield and Kingsknowe areas.

"Due to his condition he can become extremely confused which gives us considerable concern for his safety.

"We would appeal to anyone who might recognise his description or know where he is to get in touch."

Anyone with any information about Kenneth Birss should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131.
