A dozen new pieces of drama to be staged at King's
Shine, a joint initiative by Lyceum Theatre Company, Festival City Theatres and Traverse Theatre. Shine gave youngsters at the Lyceum Youth Theatre and the Traverse Young Writers Group the chance to work with playwrights, directors and theatre professionals. The result is 12 new plays performed, written, stage managed and promoted entirely by the youngsters who took part. The works, which will be performed at the King's on Saturday are 12 contrasting pieces of theatre touching on themes of humour, love, deceit and betrayal. One of the people working with the group was professional playwright Alan Wilkins, whose play Carthage Must Be Destroyed opened at the Traverse Theatre this week. Source: Edinburgh Evening News
