£1 million is thought to have been raised by participants
About £1 million is thought to have been raised by participants in what has been billed as Scotland's fastest-growing race. Dave Martin, a spokesman for the organisers of the 10km run, said: "There were no problems – everything went well. The weather was quite good." He said the strong winds affected professional athletes pushing for victory more than amateur runners. "It was a great day for people who wanted to come out for a Sunday morning jog," Mr Martin said. Hosea Macharinyang, from Kenya, won the men's race after a sprint finish, fractionally ahead of Ugandan rival Boniface Kiprop. Jelena Prokopcuka, from Latvia, fought off a strong challenge from English runner Jo Pavey to take the women's title for the third time in a row. Source: The Scotsman
